Cowboy & The Muse

A Stage Play Written & Directed by Vivian Giourousis

Vivian is an insomniac. She thinks too much. She is also a writer. She stays awake all night long, writing, and thinking. She has to write, she must, she is compelled. She is indebted and tethered to the Muse, her ever illusive, frustrating, controlling, obsessive, generous, gentle, violent, narcissistic, ego-maniacal, kind, giving, sexually vindictive, nurturing, treacherous, source of inspiration. What is the purpose of creative addiction? Don't ask Vivian, because she doesn't know. She just does as she's told, exactly as the Muse commands. The definition of the word "muse" denotes memory, and Vivian's many nights spent alone inspire memories of her own past, her almost religious dedication to the word, the letter, the phrase, and the story. The writer's journey of solitude leads us through a personal path which ultimately unfolds into universal experience, as Vivian contemplates the homelands, the birth place of stories which resides in the heart, the constellations, below, above, and beyond. Who are you? Where do you come from? What is your story? In the spirit of Fellini's 8 1/2, witness the self reflective journey of an artist searching for the omphalos of creativity and the narrative of her own life. Starring Tina Walsch as Vivian, and Michaela Greeley as The Muse. http://www.sfstation.com

Premiered January 21,  2005 at The Exit Theater in San Francisco, California

Holograms of Love

A Stage Play Written by Pauline Methratta
Directed by Pauline Methratta & Joanne Paris

Featuring Marisol McIlvain as Phat Girl , Saman Sagheb as Absolut Rock Star
and Vivian Giourousis as Modern Geisha

Holograms of Love is a 90-minute dark comedy following three intertwined lives as they leap hurdles and run into walls while reaching for the one thing they all want - love. Sophie wants to be embraced more than anything in this world, and she's ready to battle an army of cookies and unravel her own self deception to get what she wants. Her ex-boyfriend Tony hides out in a sea of beer, nostalgia and comic relief as he ducks from the women he loves to avoid while fist fighting the ghost of his father. And as his sister Corrine languishes in luxury and prepares for a lover who rarely surfaces, she finds herself scorched by the afterglow of what she thought was once an ideal love affair. Follow each character as they wrestle with heartbreak and rise above the past to meet the road ahead. mail-archive.com

Triptych: Stories of Desi Women

A Stage Play Written by Summi Kaipa and Directed by VIvian Giourousis

The stories of a 30-year-old corporate ladder-climber who flees her top-rung job, a pair of teen siblings whose mother's recent passing leads them to spiritual crisis, and a pair of best friends who consider how their lives have or have not measured up to Barbie's. "Each story focuses on women who are going through a crisis in their lives," explains playwright Kaipa. "The pieces are autonomous, but they are wed together by the idea of 'falling,' whether from their original dreams, conflated dreams, or reality." asianweek.com

Premiered January 24, 2003 at Noh Space Yugen Theater in the Project Artaud building, San Francisco, California, U.S.A.
